Here's a recipe for Butter Chicken, a popular Indian traditional food
Ingredients:
- 500 grams boneless chicken, cut into pieces
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 2 teaspoons ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 2 medium onions, finely chopped
- 2 teaspoons garam masala
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1 cup tomato puree
- 1 cup heavy cream
- Fresh coriander leaves, for garnish
Instructions:
- In a bowl, combine the yogurt, lemon juice, ginger-garlic paste, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Mix well.
- Add the chicken pieces to the marinade and coat them evenly. Let it marinate for at least 1 hour, or overnight in the refrigerator for best results.
- In a large pan, melt the butter and vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Add the garam masala, cumin powder, and coriander powder. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the spices are fragrant.
- Stir in the tomato puree and cook for another 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to blend together.
- Add the marinated chicken pieces to the pan, along with the marinade. Cook for 10-15 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through.
- Reduce the heat to low and pour in the heavy cream. Stir well and simmer for an additional 5 minutes to thicken the gravy.
- Adjust the seasoning as per taste and turn off the heat.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
- Serve hot with steamed rice, naan bread, or roti.
